Ryan Cheney ELR endgame bag and shooting mat

Good morning Jared,
I usually don't shoot off the bench with a bipod, but I really like the looks of this set-up. The pump-up rear bag is a very good idea. What cartridge is the rifle you are shooting? How much does the rifle weigh?

Thanks,
Steve

Hey Steve,
So you can use this bag on a beach or prone on the ground. I have multiple hunting blinds with benches I put into them so it’s easier to self film my hunts. It’s a very solid bag design and easy to use. The rifle is a custom 308 win and weighs around 22 pounds. It has full internal weight kits in the chassis. Without the weights it weighs around 16-17 pounds.

Jared,
Thanks for sharing this information. That is truly a nice rifle. The ballistic performance of that load is outstanding. You really have it tuned.

I have an Accutac PC-5 bipod, and a BR-4 bipod. I was wondering if the mat and the ski feet would help me. I have done most of my range shooting off a front rest. In fact, I have 2 very nice front rests. But, I have been very interested in the idea of doing more shooting from a bipod.

I also really like the idea of the air inflatable rear bag. It would take a major human error problem, meaning squeezing a rear bag, out of the equation.

I really like your rifle, and would love the opportunity to shoot a rifle similar to it. Most of the rifles I have shot were much lighter, and were chambered for higher intensity cartridges. I always have had a problem with them wanting to jump left, when using a bipod.

I am currently in the process of rethinking the process and refurbishing some of my rifles. These are all good points I will consider. Thanks for sharing the information.

The skis and mat work extremely well especially with the endgame bag. When setup right the gun will recoil and then come back to your exact aim point. I did it with with a 10-22 and could rapid fire on target. As for your rifle jumping left that is an issue with body placement. You need to square your body behind the rifle to prevent that from happening. The rifle will go where the path of least resistance is during recoil. So just tweak your body position until it stays straight. Hit up Ryan Cheney and he can take care of you buying the bag and mat. They are definitely worth the money and then some. Where are you located?

Someone else mentioned the body placement issue to me. I was also told I need to move the rifle closer to my chin, and place the butt of the rifle in closer to my collar bone, in from my shoulder. I hope that makes sense.

What it really boils down to is one thing, I need to build a rifle more appropriate for shooting off a bipod. Then I need to get very serious about learning how to do it. I appreciate the pointers. They help. Spending some time with a good coach would be invaluable.

I live in SW Colorado, between Durango and Pagosa Springs. What about you?
